Terms & Conditions of Enrolment

ENROLMENT

There are two methods for enrolling in a Short Course:

Online via the NAS website: www.nas.edu.au/short-courses

Print and fill out the Registration Form, returning it by:

  • Email: shortcourses@nas.edu.au; or
  • Post: Short Course Enrolments, National Art School, Forbes Street Darlinghurst NSW 2010; or
  • In Person via the Public Programs Administration Office, Building 1.G.9B, (adjacent to the Security Office) at the National Art School, from Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm. Telephone (02) 9339 8633

Concessions: Eligible concession card holders must bring their proof of eligibility to their first class, or if an Alumni, our Alumni Coordinator will check for your eligibility in our system prior to your first class. Please see Concession Fees for further details.

Enrolment in a program or Short Course is only secure when payment is completed online, and a receipt is issued.Other forms of payment and enrolment do not immediately confirm placement into a course, in these cases, a confirmation of registration will be sent by mail or email. Placement on a waitlist also does not guarantee enrolment.
Although an enrolment is secured once a receipt is issued, course confirmation is subject to adequate subscription and other factors see 1.5 Changes to, and Cancellation of Courses.
Enrolments are not transferable.

Important Cash payments are not accepted. Part-payments or partial enrolments are not accepted.


FEES

Fees for Public Programs provide tuition, facilities and in some instances, limited course materials. Refer to individual course descriptions for specific inclusions/exclusions.

Early Fee

The early fee is a 10% discount* to encourage early enrolments, with strict end dates listed clearly in the information for each course.

Concession Fee

A reduced (5% off*) Concession price is available to holders of a current Centrelink concession card, a NSW travel concession as defined by Transport for NSW, or are an Alumni of NAS as defined:

Graduates of the NAS holding a degree, diploma or certificate of the NAS, including graduates of the art department of East Sydney Technical College, Sydney Technical College and Alexander Mackie College of Advanced Education (between 1975-1977); and former students who have successfully completed at least one year of full-time study on any of the award courses included above.

Concession card holders and Alumni are also entitled to a further discount via the Early fee from Winter School 2016 onwards.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Pre-requisite academic qualifications are not needed for enrolment into a NAS Public Program, unless specified in the course description.

In addition, programs or courses may be marked with Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced to indicate the skill level recommended to succeed in a particular program or course. An individual’s skill level is self-diagnosed, and the NAS do not take any responsibility for poor course selection.

All Public Programs are available to anyone over the age of 12 years, and as such, all teachers and staff who deliver Public Programs must hold current Working with Children checks.


CHANGES TO, AND CANCELLATION OF COURSES

The National Art School reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to under subscription or for any other reason at the discretion of NAS.

In such cases, the Public Program Office will contact the relevant students who will be given the opportunity to either transfer to another available course with no administrative penalty, or receive a full refund.

NAS reserves the right to amend any course, schedule, location or teacher listed online or in the brochure before or during the course.


WITHDRAWALS, TRANSFERS, AND REFUNDS

An enrolled student may request a withdrawal/transfer from a course, up to 10 business days prior to the commencement of their course.

There are no refunds, transfers, or substitutions after this period.

Requests for transfers/withdrawals must be made in writing to the Public Programs Administrator at shortcourses@nas.edu.au

If transferring, the new course must currently be available for enrolment. Any differences in fees will be:

  • Refunded by NAS (if new course fees is less); or
  • Paid by the Student (if new course fee is more)

Whether transferring or withdrawing, a $50 administrative fee will be charged, usually deducted from any amount already paid.


Absences

Refunds, transfers, or substitutions are not allowed if students miss a class or course. The National Art School does not accept responsibility for changes to students’ personal or work circumstances.


GIFT VOUCHERS

Gift vouchers are available for purchase from the Public Programs Administration Office by filling out the Registration Form, and returning it by:

    • Email shortcourses@nas.edu.au; or
    • Post to Short Course Enrolments, National Art School, Forbes Street Darlinghurst NSW 2010.

Please allow three business days for the Gift Voucher to be authorised and created. Additional time may be needed if postage is required.

Gift Vouchers are issued with a 24 month expiration period. Gift Vouchers not redeemed within this period are deemed expired. NAS does not issue refunds for expired Gift Vouchers.

Gift vouchers and any remaining balances are not redeemable for cash, however, are transferable so must be treated and secured as cash. NAS cannot replace or refund lost or stolen Gift Vouchers.

Redemption

Gift Vouchers are redeemed by:

Manually filling out the Registration Form available from www.nas.edu.au/short-courses, returning it by:

    1. Email shortcourses@nas.edu.au; or
    2. Post to Short Courses Enrolments, National Art School, Forbes Street Darlinghurst NSW 2010.

If the selected course is of a lesser value than the Gift Voucher, the remaining amount is valid until the original expiry date. It is suggested that the holder amend the gift voucher with the amount left over as a reminder, however they can also contact the Public Programs Office to check balances.If the selected course is of greater value than the Gift Voucher the remaining fee must be paid at the time of Gift Voucher redemption.


PARKING

There is no student parking available on campus. Metered parking is available in the streets neighbouring the National Art School. Students with large or heavy materials e.g. Large canvases, heavy metals, may enter the campus by car to drop off and pick up their materials, but must then park off-campus.

For any other special parking needs please contact the Public Programs Office via shortcourses@nas.edu.au prior to the commencement of the course. In exceptional circumstances, parking may be permitted on campus with the provision of a medical certificate.


WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY

All students must comply with health and safety regulations. Potential participants and students must notify the Head of Public Programs via shortcourses@nas.edu.au of any existing medical conditions or disabilities that may affect participation in a course.
