Work directly from the figure to develop your observational skills and perceptual awareness as you learn about the fundamental elements of drawing from the nude life model. Explore the balance between observed figuration and abstract formal qualities, and compositional issues of form, space and body structure. Annelies Jahn introduces you to the concepts of figure and ground relationships and tonal constructs and discusses the importance of gestural drawing techniques. She is mindful of each individual and encourages each student’s unique capabilities to find expression, beauty and meaning in their work.

Annelies Jahn

Annelies Jahn is an artist who works in the mediums of drawing, installation and painting. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Honours, and a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the National Art School. She has exhibited with Factory 49, .M Contemporary, Sydney Non Objective (SNO) and Stacks Projects in Sydney. Annelies was awarded .M Contemporary’s BresicWhitney Emerging Artist Award for 2015. In 2013 she received the Coutts Family Award for Excellence in Drawing and was a finalist in the John Olsen Drawing Prize. In 2012 she received the FONAS Drawing Award and the Jocelyn Maughan Sketchbook Prize. Her work is represented in the National Art School Archive and private collections.
