Do you have a burning desire to tell a story through photographs? This comprehensive photojournalism and documentary photography course guides you through the practice and theory of developing great photo essays and telling personal stories through images. Glenn Lockitch also covers the essential camera functions for manual shooting mode and how to ‘see’ good lighting and timing opportunities. He helps build your confidence and teaches you about the best ways to approach people and make contacts, how to get your work seen and published, and about copyright issues, legal rights, freedom of speech, ethics and safety issues. Glenn will review and critique your photo essays, help you structure your photos into a cohesive photo essay, show you editing software techniques (including captioning, use of metadata, sizing of images and data/file storage) and present examples of other photojournalists’ work. You will go out for at least two practical shooting sessions on a Saturday afternoon, including visiting a photojournalism exhibition. On the last night all students will have an opportunity to see their work projected as a slide show.
