NAS Gallery

NAS Gallery presents a dynamic exhibition program of group and solo exhibitions by Australian and international artists, as well the end of year Graduate Exhibitions which showcase student work.

As a Gallery within an educational institution, the exhibitions developed are those that will foster appreciation as well as critical insight into art, its role in society and innovative art practice.

Each exhibition is supported by research into relevant historical and contemporary practices. This research is incorporated into each exhibition and its accompanying publications, providing a rich context for the interpretation and understanding of the exhibition.

The Gallery’s program features exhibitions of multi-discipline group and solo projects by Australian and international artists, artist residencies, public programs, research, and numerous publications.

The National Art School Gallery is situated in what was the “A” wing of the old Darlinghurst gaol. The original building was completed in 1841, and was completely refurbished to serve its new role as the Gallery in 2006.
