A Start in Life

A Start in Life provides financial assistance to disadvantaged students.
Eligibility:

You must be engaged in full time study.
You must be under the age of 25.
You can be an undergraduate or postgraduate student.

Aim for the Stars Scholarships for Women– Layne Beachley Foundation
Applications open in February 2018.
Aim for the stars provides $4000 financial grants and mentoring for women in a number of categories, including the arts.
Eligibility:
You must be an Australian citizen.
Only available for female applicants (no age limit).
You can be an undergraduate or postgraduate student.

AMP Tomorrow Fund
Applications open April 2018.
AMP’s Tomorrow Fund funds people from all walks of life to reach their goals and positively impact the community with grants between $10,000 and $100,000, including funding academic study.

You must be an Australian Citizen.
You can be an undergraduate or postgraduate student.

Anne & Gordon Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarships
Applications open May 2018.
The scholarship of US $48,000 is intended to cover 12 months overseas.
Eligibility:
You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
You must have successfully completed at least two years of an undergraduate degree or have graduated in the past five years from a practice-led visual art undergraduate degree or postgraduate qualification at an Australian institution of higher learning.

Artspace Mackay Foundation 'Hands On' Bursary
Applications close 22 January 2018.
The bursary of $4,000 is intended to support a young artist originating from the Mackay Regional Council area of North Queensland to pursue a career in the visual and creative arts.
Eligibility: You must be aged 17-25
You must be a local resident of the Mackay region of North Queensland
You must be currently studying or have applied to study with a recognised tertiary art course in 2018

Australian Federation of Graduate Women Dr Barbara Wright Postgraduate Scholarship
Not offered in 2018.
This award (maximum $5000) is to support women who have completed an undergraduate degree and will be undertaking a postgraduate qualification in 2018 who are from the Central West of NSW.
Eligibility:
You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
You must be a female student.
You must hold an undergraduate degree but not a postgraduate degree.
Normally live in the Central West (Upper Lachlan, Parkes, Forbes, Weddin, Cowra, Cabonne, Orange, Blayney, Bathurst, Oberon and Hilltops).
Be commencing postgraduate study in 2018.

Australian Federation of Graduate Women Jamieson Award
Applications close 31 March 2018.
This award of $1500 is designed to support women who completed the final year of their first degree in 2017 and who is proceeding to further study in 2018.
Eligibility:
You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
You must be a female student.
You must have completed the final year of your first degree in 2016.

Australian Federation of Graduate Women Joan Ritchie Award
Applications close 30 April 2018
This $1000 award is for a mature female student in her second year of study who has completed her first year of study at a satisfactory academic level, with some community involvement and who has financial need.
Eligibility:
You must be a female student.
You must have been born before 1 January 1991.
You must be in the second year of a full time Bachelor course with a minimum of credit level in all first year subjects.
You must have a demonstrable financial need or other disadvantage.
You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Australian Federation of Graduate Women NSW Joan Bielski AO Memorial Scholarship
Applications open again in 2019 (Biennial award).
This scholarship of $5000 per semester is to enable a mature woman to attend university and complete a first degree.
Eligibility:
You must be a female student.
You must have been born before 1 January 1982
You must be enrolled in a government supported place and without previous university attendance.
You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
You must be resident in NSW or ACT.
You must be a full time student in an undergraduate course.
You must be able to demonstrate financial hardship.

This award ($1000) is for a female student in her third year of study.
Eligibility:
You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
You must be a female student.
You must demonstrate significant disadvantage.

Australian Veterans Children Assistance Trust (AVCAT) Scholarships for Tertiary Studies
Applications open in July 2018.
These scholarships ($3,000-$5,000) are for children or grandchildren of a person with operational service as a member of the Australian Navy, Army or Air Force
Eligibility:
You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
You must be planning to enrol or be enrolled in tertiary education in 2018
You must be studying or planning to study full time
You must be receiving or eligible to receive Centrelink youth allowance or equivalent
You must be under the age of 25.

Basil and Muriel Hooper Scholarship, via AGNSW
Applications open October 2018.
This scholarship of $4000 is awarded to students of fine art to assist with the cost of fees and general living expenses.
Eligibility:
You must be an Australian citizen.
You must have completed one year of full-time study.
You cannot be receiving any other scholarship.
You can be an undergraduate or postgraduate student.

BedsOnline Scholarship
Applications open September 2018.
BedsOnline offer a $1500 scholarship to support young students undertake tertiary study.
Eligibility:
You must be aged 18-25.
You must be an Australian citizen.
You must be able to demonstrate academic potential.
You must be able to demonstrate financial or other hardship.
You must be able to demonstrate evidence of community involvement or work experience.
You can be an undergraduate or postgraduate student.

Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship
Applications open June 2018.
This $40,000 Scholarship includes a three month residency at La Cite International des Arts in Paris and allows the recipient to spend at least six months in Europe to further their art education
Eligibility:
You must be born between 8 July 1986 and 9 July 1997
You must be an Australian citizen and have lived in Australia between 7 July and 13 October 2018
Works in application must have been completed between 7 July 2016 and 7 July 2018
The scholarship residency period of July-September is non-negotiable.

Brian Terrence Reilly Pinnacle Scholarship
Applications close 1 October 2018.
This scholarship is for a student undertaking a Bachelor degree in any discipline.
Eligibility:
You must be an Australian citizen aged 16-24.
You must identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex or Queer.
You must have shown scholastic achievement.
You must demonstrate social and political awareness.

This Scholarship of $5,500 provides assistance for a young person to reach their potential.

You must be able to demonstrate financial or other hardship.
You must be able to demonstrate evidence of community involvement.

Gallipoli Scholarship
Applications close 1 March 2018.
The Gallipoli Scholarship provides financial assistance of $5000 to young people in the first year of their first degree, who are descended from a WWI or WWII veteran.
Eligibility:
You must be a lineal descendent of an Australian WWI or WWII serviceman or servicewoman.
You must be an Australian citizen.
You must have demonstrable financial hardship.
You must be aged under 25 years before 1 March 2018.

Interior Secrets Furniture Scholarship

This Scholarship of $1000 is offered to students to support financial hardship while learning at a tertiary level.

You must be able to demonstrate proficiency in English.
You must be in your second or third year of study of an undergraduate degree.

JASCO Start Your Studio Art & Design Scholarships
Applications open March 2018.
Three annual scholarships to students who excel in their course of study. Successful applicants will be awarded art materials to the value of $1000.
Eligibility:
You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
You must be studying Visual Art, Fine Art or Design at an Australian Tertiary Institution.
You can be an undergraduate or postgraduate student.

The Personal Branding Scholarship
Applications open twice a year and are due 30 June and 30 November every year. The Scholarship, valued at $2000 includes $500 cash for your tuition expenses and a personal branded website valued at $1500.

Snooze Scholarship

This scholarship of $1500 is to support students with their tertiary studies.
Eligibility:
You must be aged 18-25.

You must demonstrate academic potential with an ATAR of 70+.
You must be able to demonstrate financial or other hardship.
You must be able to demonstrate evidence of community involvement (e.g. leadership or volunteering).
You must be enrolled in a tertiary institution.

William Fletcher Foundation grants
Applications open March 2018.
This scholarship of $1000 is awarded to a student in their final year of a Bachelor degree majoring in painting, drawing or printmaking.
Eligibility:
You must be an Australian citizen.
You must be in the third year of the BFA program.
You must be suffering financial hardship.
You must be studying painting or printmaking.

Windmill Trust Scholarship for Regional NSW Artists
Applications open May 2018.
This scholarship can be used for education or professional development, exhibiting work costs, and independent artistic research or practice costs.
Eligibility:
You must be an Australian citizen.
You must be a resident of NSW and have lived more than 70km from the Sydney GPO for a minimum of 5 years continuously.
You must be working broadly in the areas of painting, drawing, sculpture or printmaking.
You must be a professional practitioner.

Young Carers Bursary Program
Applications open July 2018.
These bursaries of $3000 support young carers to study while receiving their education or training.
Eligibility
You must be aged 25 or under.
You must be a carer.
You must not be in receipt of another bursary or scholarship.
You must not have a previous degree or advanced diploma.
You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
You can be an undergraduate or postgraduate student.

Youth off the Streets National Scholarship
Applications open March 2018.
This scholarship of $6000 and a mentor is awarded to 20 students Australia-wide to assist with education or training goals.
Eligibility:
You must be aged 16-21 as of 20 September on the year of nomination.
