Volunteers and Interns

Volunteers

The National Art School Gallery, Sydney, is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to work across a variety of areas and provide support to the Gallery’s activities.

The NAS Gallery is a dynamic non-profit exhibition space featuring a program of multi-discipline group and solo exhibitions by Australian and international artists, including the end-of-year showcase of graduating students.

Volunteers are required to undertake front-of-house duties, and may also be asked to assist in exhibition preparation, events coordination and contribute towards the education and access aims of the Gallery. As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to work in a small friendly team and learn more about the National Art School and related activities, receive invitations to exhibition openings, lectures and special events, complimentary publications and library borrowing benefits.

We ask volunteers to work for at least one or two half days each fortnight and commit to the program for 12 months. We are currently looking for volunteers to assist with our full program in 2018 starting in February with the exhibition Museum of Love & Protest in collaboration with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Volunteers will contribute the following hours for the exhibition: between 11.00am to 5.00pm Sunday to Thursday and 11.00am to 8.00pm Friday and Saturday.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please download the application form and email to the volunteer coordinator - Lisa Tolcher: lisa.tolcher@nas.edu.au to set up a meeting.

Interns

The NAS Gallery provides an internship program each year for a tertiary student or recent graduate with experience in the disciplines of Art History, Fine Arts, Curatorial Studies, Art Administration, Museum Studies, and other related fields. The internship provides opportunities to acquire practical experience in an active art gallery environment.

If you are interested in applying for an internship, please email NAS Gallery Curator Judith Blackall on judith.blackall@nas.edu.au, explaining briefly your experience and interest in being involved, and include a current CV.
