Luke Thurgate

Wednesday 22 February
12.30–1.30 pm Black Theatre
Special Drawing Week Art Forum

Adelaide-based artist Luke Thurgate will discuss his art practice and in particular the development of his recent collaborative/interactive wall drawings. He will talk about a range of influences on his work and the slippages between expectation and outcome that occur when collaborating.

Luke is interested in value, trace and identity. His drawing practice has incorporated performance, video and installation as a framework for working collaboratively with artists and audiences.

Luke lectures in the Drawing Department at Adelaide Central School of Art. He has exhibited regularly across Australia and is currently completing a residency at Seymour College in Adelaide. In 2016 Luke was part of Drawing Conversations at the National Art School.
