David Haines and Joyce Hinterding are an artist-duo based in the Blue Mountains. As artists they maintain independent practices and also collaborate on large-scale art works that explore diverse subject matter, often with a focus on revealing the unseen and the unheard. Their work includes interactive gaming technology has been featured in exhibitions in Australia and internationally.
Their work together spans a variety of media including performance, photography, drawing and and ranges from large-scale scale immersive video and sound installations through to discrete objects and aroma compositions. They often combine mediums with a concern for the intersection between hallucination, the environment and individual perception. The occult, philosophy and science are important elements of their practice. Haines & Hinterding have been selected to exhibit in the 2017 Redlands Konica Minolta Art Prize opening at NAS Gallery on 28 March.
In this lecture, the artists discuss their recent projects, their collaborative practice and their multifarious sources of inspiration.
