To work creatively with clay is to
play with the elements, earth, fire, air and water
in combination with intellectual and practical
skills.
The hands on emphasis of the course allows students
the opportunity to explore and develop a wide range
of skills and associated technologies across the
temperature spectrum from raku to porcelain.
The Ceramics Department is one of the best equipped
in Australia providing an excellent environment in
which to develop individual work through
specialisation.
The practical nature of the course extends beyond
the campus to enrich the students understanding of
materials and processes. Investigation into
longstanding historical and craft traditions of
ceramics is underpinned by the critical engagement
of drawing and ensures the development of critical
dialogue with contemporary relevance. |
